Cathy's Notes from 25 Vintage Retrospective Tasting, October 2014:
Red brick color. Delicate dried flower perfume in the aromas with hints of faint youthful plum and cassis fruit. Leather, cedar and dried fruit notes Grandma‚Äôs dusty attic. Still bright and lively on the palate. Soft and silky tannins. Resolved. Unity.  Drink now and enjoy.

San Francisco Chronicle  Wine of the Week, November 14, 1990
"On rare occasions I find a wine that tastes so good it seems a pity to even try to describe it with the usual collection of nouns and adjectives.  This Corison Cabernet is one of them.  Go get a bottle, open it and taste it.  You'll like it, OK?  It's elegantly balanced with a fine blend of fruit flavors from blackberry to cherry, plus light olives, with just a touch of black pepper and spiciness from the oak.  Nothing dominates: the wine comes together with incredible style and grace.  This is Cathy Corison's first wine under her own label... and it is a masterpiece of California Cabernet."  ~Larry Walker

The Wine Spectator November 15, 1990
92  A seductive wine with toasty, buttery oak notes and rich, complex black cherry, plum, currant and anise flavors that are young, chunky and firm.  Has a full, tannic finish, and the flavors are well integrated, intense and powerful...

Restaurant Wine November/December 1990
****+  Richly flavored, soft, and complex, this full bodied wine has generous fruit character and flavors ranging from bay leaf to vanilla to walnut.  Finishes with a mildly tannic, persistent flourish.  Excellent first release from this former Chappellet winemaker.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine
December 1990
Ripe oak, ripe fruit, vanilla and hints of cocoa provide a sweet impression to the dense and somewhat low-key young aromas, but the forthright flavors of this soft, silky smooth bottling are anything but brooding in their immediate display of ripe, distinctly juicy, cherry-like fruit.  Limited tannins do little to interfere with the wine's overall accessibility.

California GRAPEVINE December 1990-January 1991
Medium-dark ruby color; attractive, rich, herbal, complex aroma of ripe currants, green pepper, and oak which developed with airing; medium-full bodied; moderately concentrated, ripe berry fruit flavors which have good depth and structure and a rich, supple feel in the mouth; well balanced; medium-full tannin; lingering aftertaste.  Superior quality...  Very highly recommended.  (Group Score 16.2 of 20 points... My Score 17 (92 of 100 points), first place)
