Harvest Notes:
Budbreak came very late in 2006 due to cold, rainy weather that continued well into spring. By early June, the sun finally came out and the vines began to bloom and set fruit. Then in mid-July, before veraison, a nasty ten-day heat wave served to limit berry size and helped the vines catch up. (Careful canopy management was essential to avoid sunburn.) Even, cool weather arrived with August and continued through a very late harvest for a nearly perfect ripening season.

Tasting Notes:
Effusive aromas of ripe boysenberries, black plums, chocolate and nutmeg spice jump out of the glass. Juicy, mouth-filling flavors of berry jam, cassis and cardamom follow with velvet tannins. Uncommonly cool nights throughout the ripening season produced wines with spot-on natural acidity to balance the rare concentration from tiny berries.

VINOGRAPHY: a wine blog
Dark garnet in the glass, this wine smells of black cherry and graphite and a hint of licorice. In the mouth, powdery muscular tannins wrap around a core of black cherry and cocoa powder. Long and rich and deep and broad. Great acidity and depth. Powerful without being overpowering. Mouthwatering. 13.8% alcohol. Score: around 9.5.                                                                                                                                                                                        Alder Yarrow, vinography.com, 6.27.2015

Six Best Napa Cabernet Sauvignons
Cathy Corison has been making finely-hewn, structured Cabs for almost 30 years on benchland between Rutherford and St. Helena where deep, stony alluvial soils provide ideal growing conditions for the Cabernet vine.  Unusual for Napa, her wines are 100% Cab… And talk about structure! The 2006 is plump and juicy, and just beginning to show hints of cedar and old leather all held firmly in place by a solid structure of supple tannins.                                    Nick Passmore, December 9, 2016

Five Luxury Wines for Thanksgiving
Corison Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 - Plump and juicy, beginning to show those hints of cedar and old leather that mark great Cabs as they age. Just coming into its own, so decant an hour before serving to allow it to show its true glory.                                                                                           Nick Passmore, November 12, 2015

2006 Corison Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
92  A balanced cabernet with violet, fresh tobacco, black currant and blueberry. Forest berries too. Medium to full body, lightly chewy tannins and a fresh finish. Balanced and flavorful. Delicious now.                                                                                                                                      June 10, 2016

Maker's Table
Deeply savory with dark aromas of cured meats, black tea, and almost-coffee spice. On the palate the fruit and minerals weave seamlessly together, and the texture is silky, with smooth, elastic tannins and a wash of glittery acid at the finish. Cathy called it “really lit up,” saying her wines hit “the sweet spot, with lots of bottle bouquet” at ten years. I think this wine has hit it.                                                                                Meg Houston Maker, makerstable.com, June 28, 2015

Bright ruby-red. Boysenberry, dark chocolate and violet aromas, with hints of leather and game. Juicy and moderately dense, with sweet dark berry flavors joined by a leathery nuance. In an elegant, restrained style.  Finishes with firm, dusty tannins and good persistence. Cathy Corison’s wines are typically just under 14% alcohol… 90                                                                                                                                                                                                                      May/June 2009, Issue 144

More concentrated fruit but this time it’s a bit deeper with hints of blueberries as well as blackcurrants. The fruit is supported by swathes of cedar and smoke...
