2007 was the first of several drought years with only 60% of normal
rainfall. Warm weather in March resulted in an early bud-break but a
long moderate to cool summer lengthened the ripening season nicely and
yielded wonderful natural acidity in the grapes. After a short heat
spike at the end of August the weather turned cool again for the rest of
the season. Picking was leisurely. It was one of those vintages that
made wine making look easy.

Warm, rich aromas feature cinnamon, pie crust, ripe plums and cassis
fruit kissed by cocoa and anise notes. The layered flavors of black
cherries, red currants, plums and pomegranate linger. The lush texture
in the mouth is full and round and tempered with perfect balance and
velvety tannins.

VINOGRAPHY: a wine blog
Very dark garnet in color, this wine smells of dried flowers, dark cherry and licorice. In the mouth, rich black cherry and cocoa powder mix with licorice and graphite notes on top of a faint wet earth quality. Supple but muscular tannins, enclose the wine in a firm grip. Excellent acidity and length. A gunpowder note lingers in the finish. Juicy and delicious. 13.8% alcohol.  Score: around 9.5                                                                                                          Alder Yarrow, vinography.com, 6.27.2015

94   A nose of dried red fruits, spice, tobacco and hard Christmas candy.  The palate is driven by floral violet and red fruit with great length and elegance leading to the core.  There is exceptional vitality to the velvet-like fruit.  It is aging beautifully.  Drink 2013-2027.                                                                       volume 3.1, October 2013

Corison Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 Napa Valley    18  Perfectly ripe cassis, plum and pomegranate fruit, with sandalwood, sage, liquorice and spice accents. Good grip, refreshing acidity, and a completeness that suggests drinking now, yet the patient will put it away for a few years and be justly rewarded.                      7 February 2011

2007 Corison Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon:  Cathy Corison's restrained style is a model for less being more, and this is her best in years - a pure, graphite-edged expression of cassis-filled Cabernet, with sage and sandalwood accents, and a racy profile that's a brilliant expression of 2007 ripeness. Trademark Corison freshness with lots of stuffing.                                                                                                                                                                                        Sunday, November 28, 2010

Deep red-ruby. Aromas of blackberry and cassis, bitter chocolate, with hints of leather and meat with truffley accents. Dense and rich, with dark flavors of black cherry, boysenberry, chocolate and minerals complemented by a suggestion of Provencal herbs. This boasts very good stuffing for a Corison wine, with the result that the substantial dusty tannins make their presence felt quite late, allowing the boysenberry and chocolate finishing flavors to build. Complicated by licorice and herbs. Finishes dry and classic, with lingering suggestions of boysenberry, tobacco and iron. 90-93 points

California Grapevine
2007 Corison, Napa Valley – Medium-dark ruby color with purplish tinges; attractive, moderately intense, spicy, plummy, cassis and sweet blackberry fruit aroma with notes of vanilla and graphite; full body; rich, textured, cedary, currant and ripe blackberry fruit flavors with a silk entry and nicely integrated fruit and oak; well balanced and structured; medium-full to full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Shows complexity and distinctive varietal character. Very approachable now, though it deserves another three to five more years of bottle aging. Very highly recommended. 13.8% alcohol; 600 cases; 100% Cabernet Sauvignon; released September 2010.

92  CORISON Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2007
If sporting a nice nose to start with a good dose of curranty fruit in control, this bottling unfolds with a few moments of air and takes on complexing elements of rich oak, roasted herbs and a bit of forest-floor spice. It begins with a fine, supple entry then tightens and firms in the fashion of a young Cabernet, but it is always balanced and consistent in focus with a sense of wine-making polish that makes us believe that it will improve in the bottle for a good many years.
